Porsche 911- “Best Automobile in the World”

porsche-911.jpgAbout 95 000 readers of the German publication Auto motor und sport have unanimously chosen the Porsche 911 Carrera as the “Best Automobile in the World” for its category of drop-top. These awards have become a second nature for Porsche, as its 911 Turbos and Cabriolets have won 37 best trophies since the start of the awards back in 1977. This fact, along with the 911’s basic shape, seems to have remained the same for 31 years then.

Important recognition for Porsche from one of the most influential magazines in the motor industry, especially considering that 49 other convertibles and cabriolets (depending on where you live) were soundly beaten, again, in this category. In the awards’ history a Porsche has either won a category, or taken second place where it was entered, which seems like a really good record to beat.

One area where Porsche pride themselves but have never really been recognised by expert scribes is in the World Engine of the Year competition. Perhaps this year they will go one better than last year and win two. It would be interesting if an Italian version of the magazine appeared, just to see what sort of vehicles would win.

Porsche GT3 RS

Whatever you may say about the Porsche GT3 RS it shifts, both off the porsche lines but also down the road. Theres a reason its got a roll cage, breaks bigger than you whole dining table and a back spoiler. A whopper of a car and fun whether your on a track, road or trying to get out with some sort of dignity!

But the Porsche GT3 RS  is faster because of its close-ratio six-speed transmission with a single-mass flywheel and lower overall weight, the engine revs up even more freely.

Porsche GT3 RS  features ceramic brakes (PCCB) as standard, uses the same wide body as Carrera 4 / 4S but with a different rear wing.

Porsche 997 GT3

Now when you go around trying to buy used car do you ever see something as hot as this? This Cup edition of the Porsche GT3 (997) is a stunning car, and would be well worth getting car finance for. Featuring a B6 Engine and enough BHP to kill a tortoise or thousand. When it comes to new cars you cant really trump a Porsche GT3. These things are fast, hot and balanced. One of the most established cars, produced in germany, one of the most established car manufacturing nations. Professionals that have skill beyond their white paint brushes.

Its just an honest shame that they didn’t paint it bright green like the other GT3 I saw last week, caning me around a track. I personally usually seek used cars in west wales, but I very much doubt you’d see a GT3 in my county!

Porsche 997 GT3

  • Rear wheel drive
  • Power: 420 bhp / 313 KW
  • Torque: 420 Nm / 310 ft lbs

Porsche Boxster RS 60

Porsche Boxster RS 60

The only Porsche I have personally seen (face to face) that I adore was a 911 turbo ( I think it was) completely black with everything on top. Now I am not really a Porsche type of a guy, I like aston martins and maybe even ferarri’s more. But you gotta hand it to them they have stuck at it. Most companies would get bored redesigning the same design 4 million times, but they keep doing it - and the cars aren’t half bad either!!

Porsche Boxster RS 60

  • Engine: 6 Cylinder
  • Compression Ratio: 11.0:1
  • PoweR: 303 bhp / 226 KW
  • BHP per Litre: 95 bhp / litre

TechArt Porsche 911 Turbo Cabriolet Tuning
At next month’s Essen Motor Show in Germany, TechArt will present latest tuning program for the latest Porsche 997 Turbo Cabriolet. The car sports some impressive mechanical modifications, like the improved 3.6 liter boxer engine which now produces 630 hp. This means the performance figures are also impressive: Porsche 997 Turbo Cabriolet does 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) in just 3.5 seconds and TechArt claims it reaches a top speed of 214 mph (345 km/h). Pretty nice!Handling was improved by a 25 mm lowered suspension, plus an electronically adjustable PASM shock absorption system equipped with TechArt VarioPlus threaded chassis. The German tuner offers two body kits, the Aero Kit I and Aero Kit II, both featuring a new front spoiler, new bumper, aerodynamic side sills, lowered rear diffuser with additional, lateral air outlets and a completely redesigned wing profile of the extendable rear spoiler.
